Hi Leigh. I don’t normally comment on blogs and things but felt compelled to. Your blog has been both beautiful and raw to read. I too suffered with severe pre-eclampsia and HELLP syndrome. (Just like yourself could not get over the irony of HELLP syndrome being anything but….) I had my little boy by emergency c-section under GA just like yourself on 3/11/14. I was 25 weeks plus 1 and was also thrown into the preemie world, a world I knew nothing about before, a world I never thought I would need to know about. Blissful ignorance i think, you assume you get pregnant, have baby 40 weeks later and bring baby home…..My little boy is now 8 weeks and 2 days old and is doing well considering he was born at just 570grams and hovering so many times between life and death. I couldn’t agree with you more that preemies regardless are the most bravest and beautiful beings that there ever was. They suffer so much but take it all in there stride. Seeing what my son is going through and other preemie baby’s I have heard of on the journey we started a few weeks ago, I have never known such strong individuals regardless of whether they stay with us or become our angels.

    Thank you for your blog,
    Sarah
Ps, Hugo is simply beautiful 🙂 and I love his name

Hi Sarah, thanks so much for commenting. I’m sorry to hear you also had HELLP syndrome. It really is a terrible acronym. Preemies really are the most incredible beings, they show you what strength and resilience really is, despite their tiny size. Thank you for your kind words about Hugo. Best wishes to you and your little one. xxx
